Counting My Blessings
Did you know God wants to bring His blessings into your life? In this world of constant turmoil, God wants to place His Joy in your heart. It is for this reason that we, at Northside Baptist Church, begin our morning worship with the proclamation, “This is the day the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalms 118:24) It doesn’t matter if you feel like it or not, our Heavenly Father wants you to have His best everyday. Jesus said, “I am come that you might have life and that you might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10b) This means the God of the universe, cares about every single moment of your life. The Scripture tells each of us to take our cares and cast them upon the Lord. “Cast your burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain you: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.” (Psalms 55:22) In other words, our Lord does not want our cares to be our focal point. We are to focus upon Him and allow Him to take care of us. If we will focus on Jesus, God will handle the problems that beset us. In truth, He may not handle them as we would wish, but He will do what is best for us. He may remove the problem. This is most often our personal desire. He may choose to remove you from the problem. However, the thing I have found God does most commonly in my own life, is to take me through the problem and seek to change me in the process. If He can change me and use the problems and cares of life to mold me to be more like Jesus, then even my difficulties serve to bless me. When I am blessed, I can find joy no matter my present circumstances. This means I can find God’s blessings and joy no matter what the circumstances of my life may be.
