I Love My Church
February has come and with it comes a flood of encouragements for Valentine’s Day. Much of this is generated by the commercial world to boost sales. While we know this is true, every husband needs to acknowledge the importance of doing something to demonstrate their love and appreciation for their mate during this time. Certainly you should show your love for your wife or husband on all days and you should not do so just because the media has declared this the month of “love”. However if you are thinking of boycotting a Valentine’s Day demonstration of affection to your beloved, let me advise you otherwise. Demonstrate your love when it is not expected but do not leave your mate out when it is expected. This type of failure on your part might lead to you expecting a negative reaction from your love.
Another area in which you should demonstrate your love is in your relationship to God and His church. February is not only a month in which to show love to your mate; it is also “I Love My Church" month. God has given us the church to bless and strengthen our lives. He draws us together in a church family to care for one another and to help each other fulfill our God given purpose. It is in sharing God’s love and care for each other that we demonstrate to a lost world our relationship to the Lord. “A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” (John 13:34-35) Demonstrate your love for the Lord and His church by being faithful to Bible Study and Worship Services each week. Show your love!
