Paying Attention To My Soul
How much effort are you putting into protecting your health? Like it or not the body you are in is the only body you will have in this present world. The Bible is clear that “it is appointed to man once to die and after that comes the judgment. “ Now if we are only going to die once, the body we have will be the one that dies. It seems only good stewardship that we would try to take care of our bodies. Doctor visits and exercise are certainly warranted as a part of our physical care. Huge amounts of money are spent each year in an effort to combat aging.
Now, while all the effort and expense may be partially needed the end result will be the same. We will still die. We will then spend an eternity somewhere. The time we spend on earth in our bodies is a very short span of time in comparison to the time we will spend in eternity. Think of a young man splurging on a wedding ring for his fiancée and placing that valuable ring in a small box that came free with the ring. Then imagine the young lady excitedly receiving the box and never opening it, treasuring the box instead of whatever is inside. That would be like our putting all our attention on our bodies that will pass away and never giving care to our eternal souls. We must give more attention to that which has the greater value. We must place our souls in the care of Jesus. Then, we must urge others to do the same.
