Pointing To Noah's Witness
It was amazing when God called out to a man named Noah and told him to build an ark in the middle of the desert. He was instructed to build a boat larger than anyone of his time had ever dreamed could float. He was instructed to build a sea going craft with absolutely no nautical experience or knowledge. Then he was to fill that ark with animals of every kind without even knowledge that many of the animals even existed. This was a man with great faith in God. He took God at His word and went to the task as instructed.
Noah did not only have to trust God for the plans for the ark, he had to trust that God was going to send the flood. He trusted so much in fact that He did not shy away from preaching repentance seeking to draw everyone into the safety that the ark would provide. The people of his day had the message of warning that he preached and the message of warning that his efforts in constructing the ark should have provided. Noah’s faith in the Lord was so great that he did not let the difficulty of the task or the rejection of the people stand in his way. He remained faithful and when the rains came God proved His word. Noah had found grace in the eyes of the Lord. The waters receded and Noah had the blessing of seeing his family spared. They too had heard the messages of warning, but unlike the others, they followed the witness of Noah’s faith in the Lord. Oh that we would live with such determination and faith so that our families might follow us to salvation. Like Noah, we must live according to God’s word.
