Praying For God To Bless America

This has been possibly the longest and worst Presidential election in our nation’s history. All votes have been cast and a decision has been made. This is one election in which no one seems to be truly happy. Out of all the men and women in the United States who were able to run for our nation’s highest office we were left with choices that few, if any, truly wanted and now one of them will lead the nation.

Whether your candidate won or lost, the task for us now is the same. As Christian citizens, God calls upon us to pray for those in authority over us. We should pray that God’s will would be done in the Congress, Senate, White House and in our houses. It is the peaceful transition of government that has often set our nation apart from the rest of the world. While we might not be pleased with those in office, we must pray for their success. Where their stands are opposed to God’s word, we should pray for their minds and policies to change.

The most important thing we can do for our nation is to dedicate ourselves to living faithfully for our Lord. Our nation does need change but the only lasting change that will make a positive difference will be from men and women who live their lives faithfully according to God’s word. No matter who is in the White House, it is still almighty God who is on the throne. We are called to live by His will and for His purpose - as we do so lives around us will be altered by our witness. As citizens living faithful lives, we can turn our nation to God and through that action change the world.
