Praying For President Trump
This past Saturday I had the privilege to hear President Trump address the graduating class of Liberty University. It was refreshing to hear a sitting President challenge young people to be strong in their stand for Jesus Christ. He reminded them that in America, "We don’t worship government, we worship God.” He promised that as long as he is President, Christians would be able to have a freedom to preach our beliefs without fear of government reprisals. I was thankful for his words of encouragement and the challenge he gave those graduates to stand.
Unlike the reception of many conservatives on college campuses across the country, his reception was one of attention and respect. Jerry Falwell Jr., President of Liberty University said, "At Liberty, the students and faculty practice a respect for all their speakers whether they agreed with them or not.” The measure of this had been seen just a few months ago when the same respect was shown to the Liberal Democrat, Bernie Sanders. This is the character that we would want to see on our campuses of higher learning. It is the respect shown in a nation built on the principle of free speech. It is the character we must have if we are going to get the Gospel across all segments of society. The Gospel must go where people do not believe, if they are ever to believe. When we find a President who is willing to stand up for our rights to share the Gospel, we must cover him in prayer.
Praying for President Trump,
