Realizing The Value Of Jesus

A few years ago a rare Ming Dynasty vase sold for $1.3 million in New York. The blue and white moon flask was auctioned at Sotheby's sale of Chinese works of art. Its presale estimate was $600,000 to $900,000. This rare Ming Dynasty vase and its stand had been serving as a door stop in a Long Island home. The family had not thought much about the vase until they saw one that was similar in a Sotheby's advertisement. It had been shuffled from place to place in the family’s home for decades. The family did not have any problem deciding to sell the vase once they learned of its value.

Now before you go through your house looking for what you may be using as a door stop, may I suggest you look within your heart. If you have received Jesus as your Savior and Lord, you have something far more valuable than a rare vase. You have the power of almighty God within your life. Is it possible that you are struggling through life’s difficulties without regard to the great treasure that is yours? The family who owned the vase may have suffered financial strains needlessly. All they had to do at any time was to cash in on the treasure that was in their hands or in this case by their door. Think of the needless heart aches you suffer because you do not rely on the value that is already yours. The Scripture reveals that “God will supply your needs according to His riches in glory.” Believer, the one who is in you created the planet on which we live. He had the power to hang the stars in the sky and by that power He sustains us. Before you fret about your needs, take a moment to look to Jesus and trust your life and circumstances to Him. Meanwhile, if you should find a vase from the Ming Dynasty and sell it; remember to tithe.
