Thankful For Friends
The theme song for the old TV series Golden Girls was “Thank You For Being A Friend.” Friendship is to be prized. It has been said that if you have at least one person you can sincerely call a friend your are greatly blessed. God instituted the bond of friendship. The church is bound together by our Lord and also by the friendships we have in Him. In fact, the driving fact that draws most people to attend a church is not the music nor the preaching. The reason most people pick a church is related to the friendliness of the church’s people.
Do you have a friend? Do you have at least one individual you can count on in times of need? Do you have someone in which you can confide without fear of judgment? Is there someone in your life who is willing to listen to the matters of your heart? The Scripture tells us that a key to having friends is to show ourselves friendly. In other words, to have a friend you must first be a friend. It is my prayer that we, at Northside Baptist Church, will always demonstrate the friendliness we have from Jesus. We must reach out to others in kind compassion showing the love of Christ. We are to demonstrate friendliness to everyone at all times even before we get to know them. Then, we must continue to be a friend to others. As Christians, we should not drop our friends. It will be by our friendships toward one another, in love, that the world will realize we are Christians.
Thankful for friends,
