This Was The Week!
This was the week! It should grab our minds as no other week of the year. In this week Jesus, the Messiah, the Alpha and the Omega, God who became man allowed Himself to be brutally taken, striped of His skin through flogging, beaten beyond recognition and nailed to a wooden cross. This is the week that “He who knew no sin became sin for us.” This is the week that every wrong you or I have ever done or will ever do poured through the heart of the Lamb of God. This is the week that for the only time in all of eternity our sin caused the Father God to look away from the Son. We cannot know or even imagine the horror that Jesus faced on the days leading up to Calvary, not to mention those hours hanging on the cross, this week. What could I ever think of doing to show even the smallest amount of gratitude for the sacrifice Jesus paid for you and for me, this week? We are in a world that has lost common decency and respect. Surely even in this world you have got to know that you owe Jesus. Any love, hope or forgiveness that is possible for our lives is only possible because of the actions of Jesus in His earthly life and during this week. So what should we do? Try getting on your knees and praying in gratitude for all that Jesus has done. While you are doing that, commit yourself anew to live the life He has made possible for you to His glory. Try letting an understanding of His sacrifice for you lead you to giving your best to Him. Then get up call or go see a friend and beg them to join you in Sunday School and Worship on Easter Sunday and do it this week.
