Wanting To Make A Difference

Posted on October 5, 2016.

What are you doing to make your life count? I believe we would all agree that we want our lives to have meaning. When we are gone, we want our existence to have left a mark on this world. I do not believe anyone desires to totally fade into obscurity as if they had never lived. Abraham Lincoln said, “In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” Lincoln crammed alot into his 56 years on the planet. What are you putting into the years God is allowing you to live?

If you have already accomplished much in life or not, may I encourage you to make good use of the time you have left? No one knows exactly how long they will live or how soon they will die so it is incumbent on each of us to make the most of this day. What has already passed in your life, good or bad is yesterdays news. We must live today focusing on doing our best for the Lord in this patch of twenty-four hours knowing that we will seek to do the same if we wake tomorrow morning. While we cannot rest on yesterday’s accomplishments, we also cannot refuse to seek God’s best today because of yesterday’s failures. The good news is that we do not have to waste today even if we wasted yesterday. We can make a difference today! We can be kind today. We can share the love of Jesus today. We can live today in the knowledge that Jesus has redeemed us as His own, forgiving all of our transgressions and equipping us to stand in His will. “This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.” Rejoicing in His will allows our lives to count.
