Happy New Year!
Have you ever wanted a fresh start? I don’t know how many mistakes I make during the course of a year and I don’t really want those of you who have been counting to tell me. I do know I like the thought of starting fresh, of having a blank slate without the slightest bad mark. It is exciting to think of another chance to do things right for our Lord, our families and our church. That is exactly what we will get to do on in 2017. We have a brand new year stretched before us, a fresh year for a fresh start. This is the time to put Jesus first and keep Him there all through the year. I am not speaking of just making new year’s resolutions. I am talking about radically changing our lives so that every step we take in 2017 will magnify Jesus. This is what the Scriptures mean when they tell us to redeem the time. Can you imagine what could happen in our church if each of us take this opportunity of a fresh start seriously? Each Sunday School class would be full and we would be starting new classes on a regular basis to keep up with the needs of our new and existing members. Every Sunday we would be setting up extra chairs to accommodate our guests. We would not have any financial concerns because everyone would be giving tithes and offerings. Best of all, we would be baptizing new believers in every service.
This Sunday will be a wonderful Sunday, a Fresh Sunday, filled with great promise. I am praying that the promise of this new year will be fulfilled in each of our lives. 2017 can be the year that God brings our lives, families, church and our city to Jesus. I look forward to what the Lord will do as we take this “Fresh Start.”
Happy New Year!
