Thankfully Forgiven

What do you need to get through this day? I know there are many wants but there is one thing all of us need above all else. It is not money though a bit more money would be nice. It is not a new car, boat, house or the latest cell phone. The one thing we all need to be able to find peace and contentment in life is forgiveness. All of us are plagued by our own sinfulness. The scriptures are clear that everyone “has sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." In an earthly investigation we might rate the severity of our sins as being less than that of others. It seems to us that there are always those who are far worse than we have been. Yet, the reality is that every individual sin is vile enough to result in the suffering and death of Jesus on the cross. What is worse is coming to the realization that none of us can go back and undo any of the sins that have been a part of our lives. Oh, that I could just go back and undo my sins. How can we live with the weight of our past pressing on us?

The answer is only found is Jesus. We cannot undo our sins but Jesus has paid the price to forgive them. His blood covers the worst of our lives and offers us the freedom to move forward in this life as well as in the life to come. Because Jesus died for our sins, they can be forgiven. In Jesus, that which has tormented us can be put away. God promises to remember our sins no more. Once we have given our lives to Jesus, we can accept His forgiveness and then move forward knowing His peace that passes all understanding. We can move forward because He has taken the weight of our sin. There is joy for those who have been forgiven. Lets move forward for Jesus in that joy.

Thankfully forgiven,
