“Sharing the Word of God with the hearts of men.”

Points of the Speer

Once a lady came to the evangelist, Billy Sunday and asked, "Why do you keep having Revival Meetings?" Without missing a step, Billy Sunday answered her with a question of his own. "Why do you keep taking baths?" Of course the reason for repetitive bathing is that we are constantly getting dirty. In fact, we can pick up dust and dirt by simply walking through this dirty world. As Christians, we live in a spiritually dirty world. At any time we are apt to fall into sin. Any sin takes us out of fellowship with God. We must wash to get rid of physical dirt and we must be revived to move away from spiritual failures.

In revival, we come face to face with our need for a closer walk with God. In order to move closer to the Lord, we must separate ourselves from our sin. This involves personal repentance. In repentance we actively turn away from our sins and turn to our Lord Jesus. Part of repentance involves the confession of our sins. We face the reality of our sinfulness, turn from our sinful thoughts and deeds, and admit our sins to the Lord seeking His forgiveness. The Lord in turn has promised to forgive our sins when we sincerely confess them to Him. In a loving and gracious move, God even promises to totally cleanse our lives of all sin when we confess those sins of which we are aware.

If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."(I John 1:9)

Having taken our lives to the Lord we can then access His power to walk away from our sins. In short, God renews us, refreshes us, REVIVES us! According to God's Word, He wants us to be revived. He is just waiting for us to want what He wants. We need revival. Are you willing to be revived?
