“Sharing the Word of God with the hearts of men.”

Sunday School Programs

Sunday School is the Bible study/discipleship arm of our church. The purpose of our Sunday School is to connect people to the body of Christ at Northside Baptist Church. Fulfilling the mission of Sunday School involves four main tasks:

  • Reaching the needs of people for Jesus Christ and church membership.
  • Ministering to class members through Christian fellowship.
  • Teaching class members the Word of God to equip them as disciples of Christ.
  • Helping class members find a place of service to help them grow in their faith.

Teachers are carefully selected and receive regular training, based on their ability to communicate effectively with the age group they lead, and receive regular training. All of our Preschool and Children leaders also go through a professional background check to insure the safety of the children.

The curriculum for Sunday School is the Word of God in all age groups. Our study is enhanced and guided as we use age appropriate materials provided by Lifeway, the publishing arm of the Southern Baptist Convention. All our classes are open-ended studies, meaning anyone can join at any time.

Our classes are age-graded into the following groups:

  • Preschool
  • Children
  • Youth
  • Adults

Preschool

Our Preschool Department provides a balanced approach to central Bible concepts, essential Bible skills, and foundational Bible stories focused on each age group's level of learning. This is accomplished through a balance of active and quite activities including Bible stories, pictures, music, and purposeful play. Several security measures are in place to insure the children have a safe environment in which to learn. This department is made up of children from birth through kindergarten.

Children

Our Children's Department provides a Bible study approach that utilizes a 3-year scope and sequence. It includes a one year chronological study from Genesis through Acts. Different learning styles are met with a variety of teaching methods designed to enable the children to internalize Bible truths and apply them to life. Multiple opportunities are provided in small groups, in a non-threatening manner, for a child to trust Christ as their personal Savior. Our Children's Department is for Children from 1st through 6th grade and all classes are coed.

Youth

Our Youth Department is utilizing Lifeway's newest material for students, Known, to provide a holistic approach to the student's spiritual development, by helping them know Christ, to own their own faith, and make their faith known. Over the course of a year, students study two different topics from each of the six areas of student spiritual development: lordship, disciplines, character, discernment, relationships, and influence. Our classes are gender specific and are separated into Junior High and Senior High.

Adults

Our Adult Department is designed to help Adults connect, grow, serve and go. Utilizing the Explore the Bible series, an in-depth, structured study of all 66 books of the Bible is accomplished in an eight year span. Regular opportunities are provided for individuals to accept Christ, make other decisions for Him, and to reach out to others. Our classes are determined by age and/or life stage. We have coed classes for all ages, ladies only classes beginning at 35 years of age and men’s only classes beginning at 50.
